Please note: where a death is sudden or unexplained and a Medical Certificate of Cause of Death cannot be issued, your loved one cannot be transferred until police have attended and provided direction. The Coroner may arrange for transfer to Cairns Hospital mortuary to determine the cause of death. Once a Coroner's order is issued, arrangements with your chosen cremation provider can proceed. Under Queensland law, you are not required to use the government-appointed undertaker.
